3 Body Problem

Netflix‘s hit dystopian sci-fi series 3 Body Problem is coming back for two more seasons.

Last night (May 31), Netflix confirmed that 3 Body Problem has been renewed for a second and third season in order to “tell the complete story of the seminal book series”. The confirmation comes after the streaming platform previously announced that “more episodes” had been ordered, but did not divulge any other information at the time.

Per a press release via Netflix, writer D.B. Weiss (who also worked on Game Of Thrones) said: “We included a lot of what we loved from the [novels by Cixin Liu] in Season 1, but the vast majority of reasons we wanted to make this show are in Season 2. We always wanted to get to the final page of the third book, and it’s really, really thrilling to us that we will get to do just that.”

Based on the book of the same name by Liu Cixin, 3 Body Problem follows Ye Wenjie (Rosalind Chao) in 1960s China whose actions have a profound impact on the lives of a group of scientists in the present day.

3 Body Problem also stars Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Liam Cunningham, Eiza Gonzalez, Jess Hong, Mario Kelly, Benedict Wong and Jonathan Pryce.

In a four-star review of 3 Body Problem for NME, Nick Levine wrote: “There are no small ideas here, but then again, nothing about this series is small either. It’s visually lavish, narratively rich and more than compelling enough to overcome its moments of coldness. 3 Body Problem is one conundrum you won’t mind being sucked into.”
