Billie Eilish has revealed she has 16 new songs in the works with brother and producer Finneas.
In the fourth edition of her annual retrospective interview with Vanity Fair, Eilish, now 18, opened up about identity, using her platform for good, the tumultuous year thatās been 2020, and how sheās been filling the time ā working on new music.
āRight now I have 16,ā the singer responded when asked how many songs she was currently working on. āWeāve been working. And I love them all.ā
Eilish also discussed feeling more confident in her songwriting abilities, advocating for herself and communicating her ideas.
āI think Finneas and I have just seriously really gotten in the groove. We do it so fast,ā she explained.
āThere was a period of time, a month ago or something, we were just texting the label like, āSong done, another song done, another song done.ā So, Iām so much better at it. I love it so much more. I actually really do enjoy it now and I do feel like Iām pretty good at it now.ā

Echoing comments she made in a recent interview with Zane Lowe, the singer also touched on a period of identity crisis and feeling like a āparody of [herself]ā.
āItās just like, you forget, Iām literally 18. Itās funny that Iām expected to have found myself and stick with it. Itās like, I donāt know, Iām trying different things out, Iām trying different ways of living and styles and personalities, hairstyles and clothing and shoes, Iām just trying it all out, because Iām a growing fucking girl.ā
Last month, Eilish shared new single āTherefore I Amā, performing it live for the first time at this yearās AMAs.
In a five-star review, NME praised Eilishās continued sonic experimentation, and called her introspective lyricism a āfascinating thread in her musicā.
āSheās not alone in this approach, but few do it quite as candidly ā her level self-awareness continues to lead to some truly addictive songwriting.ā
Earlier this month, Eilish was also nominated for a handful of Grammy Awards for her track ‘Everything I Wanted’, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
