Pop-punk couldn’t be in a better place right now, and if this new album is anything to go by, Canada’s We Were Sharks are set to make their very own mark on the globe.
It’s an absolute riot of bounce-off-the-walls rhythms and fist-in-the-air melodies, the sextet combining easycore heaviness with a bubblegum pop sheen. Single ‘Beyond Repair’ is feverishly fast and instantly memorable, as is the starry-eyed ‘Stay’, while the hardcore-flavoured ‘Late Bloomer’ (featuring Broadside’s Ollie Baxxter) is an absolute anthem. In short, there’s barely a dull moment or a misstep here – and you’d be silly not to add this to your 2018 ‘must listen’ list.
