Back in June, Tyler heaped praise on Kendrick Lamar’s recent fifth album āMr. Morale & The Big Steppersā.Ā “I think honesty is awesome ā with yourself, with [other] people,ā he said in an interview. āI think when youāre making something [like an album], it doesnāt have to be so obvious. But just being honest with how youāre approaching shit is when the best shit comes.ā
Tyler added: āN****s donāt know how to give each other hugs and I hope we get past that. We will, though. The younger kids is like, āWhatās up, bro? You good?ā We gotta cut the bullshit and just start being super open and honest.ā
Tyler then brought up āMr. Morale & The Big Steppersā, saying: āAnd thatās what Kendrick just did with his new albumā¦ I love that album, but I feel like he touches on shit thatās so, like, open and honest that some people canāt listen to it because they probably feel like heās looking at them in their eyes and theyāre like, āOh, I canāt panic. Uhhh, I canāt listen to this. Put on something else so I can hit my dougieā. And keep forgetting and numbing the shit that heās talking about.
āNot saying the people thatās doing that went through what [Kendrickās] saying, but itās making them think about the shit that theyāre covering up with that fucking, āIām hard, I shoot peopleā shit. I see it, I see through it.ā
