kep1er disband

Project girl group Kep1er may be extending their activities with seven of its members.

On May 16, StarNews reported that members Yujin, Xiaoting, Chaehyun, Dayeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih and Youngeun have successfully extended their contracts with WAKEONE, and that the group will be re-organised as a seven-member act.

In response to reports, remaining members Mashiro and Yeseo’s agency 143 Entertainment shared that it is still in the middle of discussions regarding their contracts for Kep1er. “We are still reviewing this matter carefully, and no decision has been made,” it said per EDaily.

Later, WAKEONE shared a similar statement, adding that it is discussing an extension of Kep1er’s activities with all of its members and their respective agencies.

Kep1er was formed in 2021 through the idol competition series Girls Planet 999, and made their debut with the mini-album ‘First Impact’ in January 2022. The group’s original contract stipulates that they will be active for two years and six months, and is due to expire in July.

The girl group recently announced their upcoming studio album ‘Kep1going On’, which is expected to be their final release if their contract extension falls through. Due out on June 3, it will also mark their first studio album.

In other K-pop news, newly-founded agency PAIX PER MIL has announced that LOONA’s Yves will make her solo debut with her first EP ‘LOOP’ later this month. It will mark the singer’s first release under the new agency, and since terminating her contract with former agency Blockberry Creative last year.

Elsewhere, BPM Entertainment has started revealing members of its upcoming girl group BADVILLAIN. The seven-member act’s line-up includes former participants on idol competition series My Teenage Girl as well as a Street Woman Fighter competitor from popular dance crew WANT.
