Eminem has shared a grisly new video for his recent single ‘Tobey’, featuring Babytron and Big Sean.

The clip, which you can view below, sees all three rappers digitally duplicated and interacting with their doubles as the camera roams through a variety of settings, including a warehouse, hotel room, and club.

When the song switches to Eminem’s verse, the scene switches to a blood spattered basement where a figure in a Jason Voorhees hockey mask takes a chainsaw to the rapper before he removes his mask to reveal that he is also Eminem, thus killing off his Slim Shady alter ego as the title of his new album ‘The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)‘ suggests.

The song his second from his 12th studio album, which is due to be released this Friday (July 12) following his comeback single ‘Houdini‘.

It sees the rapper reference superhero Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire who portrayed the comic book character in the film adaptations in the noughties. “Tobey Maguire got bit by a spider, but see, me, it was a goat” he raps before adding: “Way beyond crazy, Shady gone, but hey, maybe, I am the GOAT/With Big Sean and BabyTron, and that’s why they be on the shit they be on.”

The single’s cover art also features Eminem with fellow Detroit rapper Big Sean and Babytron recreating the viral three Spider-Men pointing at each other meme.

The single, which was previously shared last week, is Eminem’s first collaboration with BabyTron and his fourth with Big Sean – they’ve worked together on the tracks ‘No Favors’, ‘Friday Night Cypher’ and ‘Detroit Vs. Everybody’ in the past.

Eminem’s last studio album, ‘Music to Be Murdered By’, was released in January 2020.

NME gave it a three-star review, saying: “He’s ready to pass on hard-earned wisdom before running his mouth like he hasn’t learned his own lessons. And he offers casual fans a hook or two before embarking on another lyrical work-out. It would actually be quite disappointing to see Eminem grow up entirely, and he seems to be having fun as he navigates his own idiosyncratic space.”

Meanwhile, Foster The People recently mashed up Dua Lipa and Eminem’s ‘Houdini’ singles for a remix playfully described as the “Battle of the Houdinis”.
