Shannen Doherty had filmed five episodes of the Charmed rewatch podcast House Of Halliwell before her death, it has been revealed.
Yesterday, the cast of the House Of Halliwell podcast took to social media to make the announcement, confirming that the five recorded episodes – during which the cast of Charmed rewatch and discuss the show – will be released.
It comes after Doherty the Heathers and Beverly Hills, 90210 star died on Saturday (July 13) at the age of 53 after a nine-year battle with breast cancer.
“This show, this character, this podcast meant so much to Shannen she couldn’t wait to share it with Charmed fans everywhere. We want to honour her memory, and fulfil Shannen’s wishes by airing the first five episodes she recorded before her passing,” the podcast wrote on social media.
The post continued: “She was passionate about this project and proud to have played Prue Halliwell, we hope these episodes offer some comfort for everyone who loved her. Prue, your memory remains and your magic lives on.”
The House Of Halliwell rewatch podcast first launched in 2022 with Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause and Drew Fuller hosting. After a lengthy hiatus, the podcast returned earlier this month with Doherty joining the cast.
The first of the five episodes she recorded, titled ‘Shannen’s Magic Lives On’, is out now and can be streamed below. It begins with Krause remembering Doherty, before diving into the episode.
Her cancer diagnosis was first revealed in 2015. Two years later, she said that, after an initial phase of remission, the breast cancer had returned. In 2020, as reported by Today, court documents in her lawsuit against insurance company State Farm referred to her illness as “terminal”.
Last month, Doherty revealed on her podcast Let’s Be Clear that she was to undergo surgery and start a new treatment protocol after she was told by doctors in 2023 that her regular treatment had stopped working.
