Jeff Beck, Andrea Bocelli and Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp has appeared on stage with Andrea Bocelli, and paid tribute to late guitar icon Jeff Beck. Find footage below.

The collaboration took place during the world-renowned tenor’s three-day concert in Italy, designed to celebrate his 30 years in the music industry.

Taking place at the Teatro del Silenzio open-air amphitheatre, in Bocelli’s hometown city of Lajatico – actor and guitarist Johnny Depp is seen taking to the stage with the classical music star for a performance of  ‘En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor’.

The track is one that they originally played together alongside late guitar legend Jeff Beck, when the two of them visited Bocelli in 2020. At the time, the trio recorded their time performing together, and during the recent on-stage appearance, the recording was incorporated to feature Beck’s contribution.

Beck died unexpectedly in January last year, aged 78. It was later confirmed that his death was caused by him contracting bacterial meningitis.

Footage of the performance was shared across Andrea Bocelli’s Instagram Stories, and you can find more clips below.

Depp wasn’t the only famous face to join Bocelli for the 30th anniversary celebrations over the three days. According to outlets like TMZ, pop star Ed Sheeran also collaborated with the tenor for the occasion, as did Hollywood actors Will Smith and Russell Crowe.

The nod to Beck on the night comes as Depp has a close relationship with the rock pioneer, and the Pirates Of The Caribbean star was left “totally devastated” over the loss – visiting him at his bedside days before his death (as per Standard).

The two released their joint album, ‘18’, in July 2022, and had toured together extensively over recent years.

Beck’s last studio recording was shared earlier this year, when it was confirmed that he had contributed to Mark Knopfler’s re-recorded version of ‘Going Home’. The 1983 track was reimagined in a bid to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity, and featured some of the biggest names in the guitar world, including Queen‘s Brian May, Bruce Springsteen, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and many more.

More recently, Gibson announced that a new ‘YardBurst’ 1959 Les Paul Custom, made in honour of Beck, had been designed to celebrate both  130 years of music history and the musician’s 80th birthday.

As for Bocelli, the classical music star performed as a headliner at London’s BST Hyde Park concert series earlier this month, and was joined by Hans Zimmer, Seal, Zucchero, Loren Allred and more.

For Johnny Depp, the appearance at the Italy show comes shortly after Blondie star Debbie Harry said she would like to collaborate with the musician and actor in the future. “I was just talking with one of our crew about Johnny Depp, somebody I’ve always admired,” she said in a recent interview. “It’s a very long list of directors and actors that I would love to work with.”
