jay park big bang line up considered yg entertainment

Korean-American musician Jay Park recently revealed that he was considered for the line-up of veteran K-pop boyband Big Bang.

Jay Park recently appeared on the July 19 episode of Big Bang singer Daesung‘s YouTube show. During his appearance, the singer shared that he had been a big fan of the group when he was a trainee in the early-2000s.

Daesung then brought up how Park had once been considered for the band’s line-up by YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk. “We could have been in the same group,” Park teased Daesung, who playfully said Park would have taken his spot in the band.

Park continued to share details of his encounter with Yang Hyun-suk as a trainee. “I remember going to the headquarters of YG Entertainment when I was a trainee at JYP Entertainment. There, I sang and danced in front of the executives with G-Dragon and Taeyang,” he said, per SBS Star.

“I did some freestyle breakdancing and singing a song by Musiq Soulchild. Taeyang sang a song by Usher. It was fun, a unique experience,” Park added.

Jay Park would later go on to debut as part of boyband 2PM in 2008, but parted ways with the rest of the band and the label only a year after debuting following a scandal.

Since his departure from the group, Park has gone on to pursue a successful solo career in South Korea and founded three different music labels: AOMG, H1GHR Music and, more recently, More Vision.

In other K-pop news, KISS OF LIFE‘s Natty and Julie have teamed up with GOT7‘s Mark Tuan for new single ‘Superpower’, which will be the official anthem for this year’s Valorant Champions tour.
