Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding

Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding have reunited for a new collaborative single – listen to ‘Free’ below.

The DJ, producer and songwriter has been teasing the track on social media, and recently teamed up with Goulding to preview the song during a live set at the Ushuaïa club in Ibiza.

I’m free/ When I’m with you I’m free,” Goulding sings in the euphoric chorus over stabs of house piano. In a later verse, she asks: “What do I say now?/ Don’t want to fall in love/ I’m not afraid now/ Eyes closed.”

Arriving today (July 26), the rousing summer anthem is accompanied by a colourful official lyric video. Tune in here:

Goulding and Harris joined forces last year to release chart-topping hit ‘Miracle’, which the latter said at the time marked the completion of a “trilogy” of tunes between the two, following 2012’s ‘I Need Your Love’ and 2014’s ‘Outside’.

‘Miracle’ was nominated for the Song Of The Year BRIT Award in 2024 along with the likes of RayeCentral CeeDaveDua LipaEd SheeranKenya GraceLewis CapaldiPinkPantheress and Stormzy. However, the pair lost out to Raye and 070 Shake’s ‘Escapism’.

Additionally, the duo performed ‘Miracle’ live together during the BRITs ceremony at London’s O2 in March.

The track came second in the UK’s second ‘Song Of The Summer’ for 2023 list, just behind Central Cee and Dave‘s monumental collaboration, ‘Sprinter’.

Speaking about collaborating with Goulding in a previous interview with Hits Radio, Harris explained (via Dork): “Ellie has the three good things about working with somebody. A spectacular unique voice and delivery that can carry a song emotionally.”

Goulding added: “I feel like we just have a ‘thing’, I don’t know what it is, it’s hard to explain.”

In other news, Harris appears to have scrapped a rumoured collaboration with Miley Cyrus called ‘Ocean’.

Earlier this year, he spoke about his plans to quit DJing when he turns 50. “I think I’d prefer to be in the studio making tunes,” Harris explained.
