Kesha katy perry 2024 lollapalooza

Kesha has seemingly dissed Katy Perry during her Lollapalooza 2024 set yesterday (August 1).

During her Grant Park set at Lollapalooza 2024, Kesha performed ‘Backstabber’ from her 2010 debut album ‘Animal’. The song’s bridge features the line “Katie’s to my left, rippin’ my style”. However, during the performance, Kesha only sings the first part before expressing disgust on her face.

Fans were quick to point out how the line has had new meaning – given that Kesha hasn’t been quiet about Perry’s recent work with Dr Luke, who she accused of emotional abuse and sexual assault in a decade-long lawsuit.

“I’m so glad she’s saying what we’re all thinking,” writes X user @ratedpaulie. When another user called the diss into question, stating that the song was written back in 2009, @artpopbaddie responded: “the gag is that instead of finishing the lyric she literally gagged lmao”.

After her set, Kesha took to X to mention that the knife she carried during the ‘Backstabber’ performance was a real butcher’s knife – and she didn’t know until later.

“Apparently the prop knife went missing and they replaced it with a real butcher knife stolen from the kitchen,” she tweeted, “and i didn’t know. till now. so watch that again….”.

Last week, Kesha opened up about her “beautiful” upcoming album, and explained how it feels like the start of a new chapter.

“This is the first album I’m making where I’m 100 per cent in control of everything. It feels like it’s my first album,” Kesha told Paper. “It feels divine, it feels like it stands for a lot.

“It’s really beautiful, and I cannot wait to share it. It’s maybe the most beautiful time of my entire life! I am so excited, I got to work with the people I did and capture this moment in time, and put it onto something other people can listen to.”
