Sadie Sink has said she had no idea that people would be so invested in Max Mayfield, her character in Netflix’s Stranger Things.

The actress has played the character since season two of the show, and became a central figure in the fourth season when she is attacked and left blind and in a coma.
Fans of the show took Max to their hearts, and shared in her love of Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’, which had a major resurrection in the real world after Max played it on repeat to help her in her quest in the show.
And now, in a new interview with Variety, Sink has spoken about being taken aback by the extent to which her portrayal of the character has resonated with the general public.
“I really didn’t think people would care all that much about her journey,” she said.
She explained that she does not have social media apps on her phone so had to be informed by her brothers about the love for her and Max on TikTok.
“Still, I was kind of like, ‘That’s cool’,” she added. “I think I’m definitely numb to a lot of things now, which is a good thing. I think it keeps you stable.”

The show has now passed the halfway point in the production of its final season, and to mark that moment, we have been given a peak behind the scenes at the sets, with some of the show’s stars reflecting on their experiences.
Filming began on the final season in January this year, having been delayed due to last year’s Hollywood strikes.
Fans can expect eight episodes to wrap up the show’s story, with star Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley) recently teasing that they are “making, basically, eight movies”. “The episodes are very long,” she added.
Meanwhile, last year the Duffer Brothers revealed that Will Byers will be a “big part and focus” of the final season.
Sink herself has said in the past that she expects filming the final episode will be “awful” and “emotional I’m sure”.
The actress also memorably starred in the Taylor Swift-directed fifteen-minute short film ‘All Too Well’ in 2022.
