Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively and Bruce Willis and Demi Moore

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have become the first married couple to top the US box office since Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.

The former’s Deadpool & Wolverine is currently top after clocking up $494.3million (£385.9million) domestically since its July 26 release.

Lively’s It Ends With Us, which premiered last Friday (August 9) is just behind after its opening weekend.

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis were the last married couple to top the box office 34 years ago, according to People.

In 1990, Die Hard 2 was released while Ghost premiered less than two weeks later.

At one point that year, they were the top two films at the US box office. Ghost ended up becoming the second-most successful movie at the time pulling in $217.6million (£169.9million), while Die Hard 2 came in at eight with $117.5million (£91.7million).

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Reynolds wrote a scene in Lively’s It Ends With Us.

Elsewhere, X-Men franchise star Halle Berry recently revealed why her portrayal of Storm doesn’t appear in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Other rumoured cameos that fell through for the film includes Taylor Swift’s speculated appearance as Dazzler.

In other news about Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment recently said he keeps his The Sixth Sense co-star, who is struggling with frontotemporal dementia, “very close”  to his heart.

In February 2023, Willis’ family announced that the actor’s aphasia condition – affecting his cognitive abilities and forcing him into retirement – had developed into frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

“We now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia,” Willis’ family wrote in a statement with the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration at the time.

“Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
