'Sweet Home' netflix k-drama

Sweet Home director Lee Eung-bok has opened up about his hopes to work on a spin-off of the hit Netflix K-drama in order to “explore unresolved stories”.

In a recent interview with The Chosun Daily, Lee touched on the criticism Sweet Home received following the release of the third and final season of the K-drama series last month. “Once the work is released to the public, it’s no longer in my hands,” he said.

“I believe it’s more meaningful to create something that resonates and is talked about for a long time rather than focusing solely on immediate rankings,” the director added.

Lee also said that even though he’s “not disappointed by the mixed reviews”, he does have “some regret” about how the series turned out. “If given the chance, I’d like to explore unresolved stories and character dynamics, possibly in a spin-off featuring romance and comedy,” he said.

Lee had previously teased a possible Sweet Home spin-off in an interview with Korea JoongAng Daily last month, while saying at the time that it “remains only a consideration”.

During the same interview, the K-drama director also spoke about how working on the series had been a “burdensome and painful” experience for him. He explained that the show was “a project that differed greatly from the work I had done before”.

In other K-drama news, Netflix and JTBC have dropped a trailer for upcoming K-drama series Romance in the House, starring Son Na-eun and SHINee‘s Minho
