Disney+ has announced the upcoming premiere of its latest K-drama, The Judge From Hell starring Park Shin-hye (Doctor Slump) and Kim Jae-yeong (Love in Contract).

On August 21, the streaming giant shared that it will premiere the new romantic crime K-drama this September. The Judge From Hell stars Park Shin-hye as Bit-na, a controversial judge known for meting out light sentences to criminals despite facing massive disapproval from the public.

Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, Bit-na is possessed by a demon whose mission is to find and drag ten criminals back to hell. However, her mission is made complicated after meeting detective Da-on (played by Kim), who she begins to develop romantic feelings for.

The Judge From Hell is written by Jo I-su, who worked on the 2018 miniseries The Hymn of Death, and directed by Park Jin-pyo (Brave Citizen, Love Forecast). The 14 episode drama premieres on Disney+ on September 21.

Last week, Disney+ released its four-episode action-spy drama The Tyrant led by Kim Seon-ho. In a four-star review of the series, NME’s Carmen Chin wrote: “This well-executed espionage thriller doesn’t try too hard to impress, and in doing so makes for a fulfilling, satisfying experience.”

In other K-drama news, Sweet Home director Lee Eung-bok expressed his hopes to work on a spin-off of the post-apocalyptic series following the recent release of its third and final season. “If given the chance, I’d like to explore unresolved stories and character dynamics,” he said, but shared that the possibility of a spin-off “remains only a consideration”.
