Terrifier 2

Horror fans can look forward to a rare double-header screening of Terrifier and Terrifier 2 in UK and Irish cinemas this September.

The low-budget, word-of-mouth hits have become cult favourites in the horror community in recent years and now the two films will be shown together in cinemas for one night only on September 27.

Full details of the cinemas that will be showing the films has not yet been shared, with distributors Signature Entertainment asking fans to let them know where they would like the movies to be screened.

See a trailer for the double-header below.

The original Terrifier came out in 2018. Written and directed by Damien Leone on a budget of just $35,000, the film about a mysterious serial killing Art The Clown kicked up a storm on social media thanks to its high levels of gore and earned enough at the box office for Terrifier 2 to be green-lit.

Made for around $250,000, the sequel (again helmed by Leone) built on this reputation, reportedly causing people to pass out in cinemas and taking more than $15million globally. Later, it was submitted for Oscars consideration in a fan-driven campaign led by horror specialist publication Bloody Disgusting, though came away empty-handed.

Last month, the teaser trailer for Terrifier 3 was released, showing Art going on a killing spree during Christmastime. While the extent of his kills remains under wraps, we get glimpses of the psychotic killer clown chopping up his newest victims before the camera cuts away. At the end of the clip, Art lies in a pool of blood making blood angels (think snow angels, but red).

While Terrifier 3 carries a Christmas theme, you can expect to catch it in theaters around Halloween season, as it’s set for an October 11 release.

Last year, writer and director Damien Leone and Priscilla Smith, president and founder of French distributors The Coven, revealed that the third entry in the franchise will amp up the gore even more than its predecessors, and will carry a significantly larger budget.

Leone said: “Terrifier 3 will be another boundary pushing addition to the horror genre, continuing the no holds barred, uncompromising exploits fans of the franchise have come to expect and celebrate. If you thought Art the Clown’s reign of terror in part 2 was extreme, you haven’t seen anything yet.”
