Hulk Hogan asked a crowd of supporters if he should “body slam Kamala Harris,” before questioning the Democratic presidential nominee’s ethnicity.
The former WWE star made the remarks while speaking at an event in Medina, Ohio, where he was promoting his new beer.
“You want me to body slam somebody?” he asked the crowd in a video shared by TMZ. “You want me to body slam Kamala Harris?”
Further hyping up the crowd, he continued: “I said, do you want me to body slam Kamala Harris? Do you want me to drop the leg on Kamala?”
The wrestling icon then went on to question the vice president’s racial identity. “Is Kamala a chameleon? Is she Indian?” he said.
As the raucous crowd continued to cheer, Hogan made a gesture with his hand mocking Native Americans (Harris is not Native American; her mother was from India and her father from Jamaica).
“I am going to get heat for that one, brother,” Hogan said. “That was not me. That was the beers talking.”
Many Republicans – including Donald Trump – have questioned Harris’ ethnicity in recent weeks, with the former president saying in July: “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?”
Hogan is a strong supporter of Trump, and made an appearance at July’s Republican National Convention, when he stood onstage and ripped his shirt apart to reveal a Trump-Vance top underneath.
The wrestler also a long history of making controversial and offensive remarks. In 2015 he was suspended from the WWE after a leaked video showed him repeatedly using the N-word. He later apologised and was reinstated to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.
Elsewhere, Oprah Winfrey recently offered her endorsement to Harris to become the first ever female President of the United States, while also taking a swipe at Trump’s vice-presidential candidate JD Vance for calling Democrat women “childless cat ladies”.
