Liam Gallagher appears to be teasing a new Oasis album, saying on social media that “it’s already finished”.

The Britpop band have dominated much of the national conversation since announcing their return on August 27, with many rejoicing at the news, and some having been frustrated by the controversy around the ticket sales.

The reformed Oasis will play a string of huge shows in the UK and Ireland in July and August next year, their first gigs since splitting 16 years ago.

Liam has been active on X again after a brief hiatus after the comeback announcement, and on Saturday morning (September 7), he issued a flurry of replies to Oasis fans, one of whom asked, “Is it true that Oasis will have a new album???”

“Yep it’s already finished,” he replied.

Another reply came to a tweet asking whether a new album was “in the air”, to which he said, “It’s in the bag mate fuck the air”.

While Liam is known for being light-hearted and flippant on X, and his tweets fall well short of any official confirmation, he does have form in leaking clues to news before it becomes public knowledge.

He did, for example, tweet about the photoshoot he was doing with Noel ahead of the return announcement, and hinted at the band playing some big Manchester shows, before anything was made official.

The new hints also join other comments Liam made back in April that resurfaced after the comeback announcement, in which he suggested Oasis would be recording a new album in November.

Further bolstering the speculation is the fact that Noel Gallagher was spotted heading into a recording studio after the Oasis announcement, and some are pointing to the fact that the guitarist publicly announced he was scrapping an acoustic album earlier this year in favour of a more “defiant rock record”.

Elsewhere in his social media activity over the last 24 hours, Liam said he was “seriously gutted” for the fans who were unable to get tickets to next year’s tour.

“I’m seriously gutted for people that can’t get tickets I can’t even go there it hurts my heart,” he wrote. “I know people will think I’m taking the piss but I’m not I want to celebrate this biblical moment with everyone I gotta go I’m sorry”.

Oasis’ 1994 classic debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ returned to Number One yesterday (September 6), their first chart topping album in 14 years. It came on the occasion of the album’s 30th anniversary reissue. ‘Live Forever’ and ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ both re-entered the Top 10 on the Singles Chart, with ‘Wonderwall’ landing at Number 11.
