Tool announce new destination festival with Mastodon, Primus and more

Tool have announced a new destination festival set to take place in the Dominican Republic next year – find out more below.

The festival, dubbed Tool In The Sand, has been labeled as an “all-inclusive” experience that is scheduled to take place across three days in March next year in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic across two resorts; the Hard Rock and Royalton resorts.

Tool will perform two sets at the festival, which will also include sets from Mastodon, Primus, Coheed And Cambria, Eagles Of Death Metal, CKY, King’s X and more. Alex Grey and Allyson Grey have been named as special guests.

Tickets are only available in packages that come with a luxury resort room, unlimited food and drinks and entry to the three-day festival. Each room will be able to accommodate two to four guests.

Tool Army (fanclub) member pre-sales will begin on October 29 at 10am PST, with pre-sale codes being sent to their Tool Army accounts. General sales go on sale on October 30 at 10am PST. All tickets can be purchased via the Tool In The Sand website.

Earlier this year, Tool’s bassist Justin Chancellor spoke with NME about the pressure from fans to release new music – the band’s last album, ‘Fear Inoculum’, came out in 2019.

He said: “The only pressure comes when we announce that we’re working on something new, because then we have to make our own predictions for when it’ll come out, and obviously you feel like you let people down if you don’t release it in a certain amount of time.

“It’s a nice feeling that people still want new stuff, but also they’ve got to understand that it’s not the easiest thing to do. It’s not a simple thing and it’s not always a natural thing that comes at the time you want it to come. Art is a very strange animal and it has its own schedule.”
