Adam Sandler and Robin Williams

Fans of Adam Sandler have pleaded with the actor not to remake Disney’s 1997 movie Flubber.

Robin Williams starred in the original movie and earlier this week it appeared that Sandler was set to star in a sequel when a poster of the actor seemingly playing Professor Philip Brainard was shared on Facebook.

It later turned out to be fake but that didn’t stop fans from calling on the actor not to star in the movie in the comments below the poster.

“I love me some Adam Sandler, but he definitely has big shoes to try to fill,” one wrote. “I love Adam Sandler but wouldn’t be the same without Robin Williams in it and that movie was a classic,” another commented.

“I like Adam he’s probably my favourite actor but please no don’t do it. Let Robin be the only one,” another added.

The original Flubber movie followed Williams as a quirky scientist as he desperately tried to figure out a new energy source to save his college from closure. The late actor’s efforts resulted in a green, sentient goo which gave cars the ability to fly or turned an amateur basketball team into the Harlem Globetrotters.

In other news, Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore’ is getting a sequel, and Sandler recently claimed that the Oscars slap was the “best thing that ever happened to” Chris Rock.

The slap occurred at the Oscars ceremony in March 2022, in which Will Smith slapped Rock onstage after the comedian made a joke about wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

“I think that was the best thing that ever happened to him because then [his standup] became wild again,” he said. “It became outrageous.”

Meanwhile, Sally Field recently revealed that Robin Williams changed the filming order of Mrs Doubtfire so she could leave filming after her father died.
