South Korean sibling duo AKMU have dropped their new album, ‘Next Episode’, alongside an arresting visual for their collaboration with singer-songwriter IU, ‘NAKKA’.
The video opens on Lee Chan-hyuk at a chaotic house party before he begins free-falling from the apartment, plunging through the different levels of the bizarre building. Later, his sister Lee Su-hyun eventually saves him and pulls him back to the party. IU, however, does not make an appearance in the video.
‘Next Episode’ is the latest project from the pair. It features collaborations from a number of notable South Korean artists, including Zion.T, Beenzino, Crush and Sam Kim. Music videos for each of the songs will be released “in consecutive order [according to the tracklist]”, their agency YG Entertainment confirmed.
The project was first hinted late last month after South Korean news outlet Hanguk Gyeongje reported that AKMU would be making a comeback in July. On the same day, YG confirmed the news and stated that “AKMU are in the middle of filming a music video for a new track”, per Soompi.
‘Next Episode’ is the duo’s first project in eight months, after last year’s single ‘Happening’. Chan-hyuk had previously shared that ‘Happening’ would act as a connection to AKMU’s next full-length album. The project also marks their first release since renewing their contracts with YG entertainment earlier this year.
In other K-pop news, BLACKPINK‘s Lisa has continued to tease her solo debut with cryptic posts on Instagram. On her stories, the Thai-born K-pop star uploaded two images of her in a recording studio, subtly confirming that her long-awaited solo single is on the horizon.
