Elsewhere, the band released their latest single āU Should Not Be Doing Thatā, along with a B-side called āFactās’. The new songs marked their first new music in three years, since they dropped their second album āComfort To Meā in 2021.
NMEĀ last spoke to Amyl & The Sniffers back in 2021,Ā where Taylor spoke about how āComfort To Meā addressed the political environment Australians were facing in the summer of 2019.
āāCapitalā is about how many people are left on the outskirts of society without any help ā especially none from fucking Scott Morrison, the absolute tosser,ā Taylor toldĀ NME. āWeāre all getting taxed to buggery and getting nothing in return. In bushfire season he gave nobody a helping hand.
āIām not that well educated about politics, but during bushfire season all of theĀ Indigenous people had advanced backburning set-upsĀ and the government just ignored that. Also,Ā Indigenous incarceration ratesĀ are off the fucking Richter scale.ā
In a four-star review of ‘Comfort To Me‘, NME shared: “When the band rally against being pigeonholed on āDonāt Fence Me Inā, it feels like theyāve finally escaped this fate ā sure, they can still pull a decent pint of pub rock, but āComfort To Meā serves as proof that thereās far more to them than just that.ā
In other news,Ā Amyl & The Sniffers have been announced for a stacked Primavera Festival lineupĀ this year alongsideĀ Lana Del Rey,Ā Pulp,Ā The National,Ā FKA Twigs,Ā SZA,Ā DisclosureĀ and more.
