Anya Taylor-Joy has revealed that she wants to “shoot ice out of her hands” as Elsa in a live-action remake of Disney‘s Frozen.

In a new interview with Vogue Hong Kong, the Emmy-nominated Queen’s Gambit star said she would relish the opportunity to sing, dance and act at the same time.

“I would love to do a musical because I’m a bit addicted to hard work,” she said, in response to a question about her dream role. “I like having an impossible mountain to climb. The idea of having to be able to sing, dance, and act at the same time would just really thrill me.”

She went on to single out Frozen as her franchise of choice, should she ever be given the opportunity to perform in a live-action musical movie.

“I think Frozen would be pretty great. It would be very fun to shoot ice out of your hand,” she added, referring to Elsa’s ability to harness the power of ice. “Also, you’d just be the favorite at every kid’s birthday party. All of my siblings have children now, so I would love for them to be able to say, ‘My auntie is Elsa.’ That would be pretty sick.”

Vaguely adapted from Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen, the first Frozen movie was released in 2013 and followed a young princess, Anna (voiced by Kristen Bell), who sets out on a journey to bring her sister, Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel), back to the Kingdom of Arendelle after her icy powers make her an outcast in society.

In the second film, after hearing a mysterious voice call out to her, Elsa travels to the enchanted forest and dark seas beyond her kingdom, embarking on a journey of self-discovery.

In November 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Frozen 3 and 4 were officially in the works. Iger said at the time that he didn’t “have much to say about those films”, but confirmed that director Jennifer Lee was “hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories” to continue the series.
