Apple TV+ has officially announced a premiere date for the long-awaited season two of PachinkoRead on for everything you need to know about the new season, its cast, trailers, plot and more.

What is the plot of Pachinko season 2?

The first season of Pachinko – based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Min Jin Lee  – was an epic narrative that spanned decades, starting from the early 20th century, and follows a family’s matriarch, Sunja, from Korea to Japan and the US.

The season alternated between the hardships young Sunja (Kim Min-ha) faced after arriving in a foreign land, as well as the life of an elderly Sunja (played by Youn Yuh-jung, who has already established roots in a new nation. It concluded after Sunja sought after her husband Isak (Noh Sang-hyun), who had been arrested by Japanese police.

The second season of Pachinko is expected to pick up where we left off in Season 1’s finale, and patch up the inconsistencies between young and old Sunja’s life as it maps out the full story of Sunja and her family.

Who will star in Pachinko season 2?

All main cast members from Pachinko’s first season – Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Min-ho, Jin Ha, Jung Eun-chae, Anna Sawai, Han Jun-woo, Soji Arai and Kim Min-ha – are set to reprise their respective roles in the upcoming season.

New additions to the cast include Kim Sung-kyu, who has stared in films such as Noryang: Deadly Sea and The Outlaws, however his role in the new season has yet to be disclosed. Other new additions to the cast have yet to be announced as of writing.

Is there a trailer for the new season?

Apple TV+ has yet to release an official trailer for the new season, however it did drop a brief clip of the existing characters from the first season in a montage alongside its premiere date announcement.

How do I watch the new season?

Pachinko season two will consist of eight episodes in total. One episode will be released per week beginning on August 23, with the finale set to air on October 11, all through Apple TV+.
