Banks

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of her debut album ‘Goddess’, Banks has announced a new acoustic version and three intimate live shows across the UK and US.

The singer announced the news of the album and shows on Instagram with a reel earlier today (September 5) and shared that tickets will go on sale at 10am local time on Tuesday (September 10) – you can get tickets here.

A ticket presale will be available on Monday September 9 for fans who sign up for early access to the shows here.

The singer released ‘Goddess’ exactly 10 years ago, on September 5, 2014, but the acoustic version, titled ‘Goddess Unplugged’, isn’t out just yet – while she announced the album today, she hasn’t revealed a release date.

The shows she’ll be playing, meanwhile, are taking place at three of the original venues she played when ‘Goddess’ came out a decade ago. She’ll begin her run of shows at London’s Koko on October 21, before a show at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on October 23 and finally one in New York City’s Irving Plaza two days after that.

On Instagram, Banks said: “Today is such a special day. It’s the 10th anniversary of my debut album ‘Goddess’ and I just wanted to take a second to jump on here and tell you guys how grateful I am for you, how much you mean to me – everybody that’s been there with me since day one and of course the ones who have joined along the way. I love you from the bottom of my heart and I wanted to do something special for you guys.”

She also told fans to “stay tuned” for another big announcement coming next week, before finishing, “I love you all, let’s fucking celebrate together.”

When ‘Goddess’ first came out in 2014, NME gave it a 3.5-star rating, saying: “Brooding and gloomy, the 25-year-old singer sticks to her formula with mixed results,” and adding: “Her debut LP is good, but not up to the standard its title suggests.”

Banks last released an album – her fourth – in 2022, ‘Serpentina’. NME gave it a four-star review and called it an “innovative and resilient reintroduction, with bold new sounds.”
