Borderlands

Borderlands 3, the chaotic, hilarious co-op looter shooter, is coming to PlayStation Plus next month (July).

Borderlands 3 will be available at no extra cost to all PS Plus subscribers from July 2. There will be PS4 and PS5 versions of the game available to download. The PS5 version apparently has a better frame rate, capped at 60, rather than 30, loading times are faster, and it even incorporates the DualSense’s adaptive triggers.

The Borderlands series follows the denizens of the planet Pandora, a place supposedly rich in mineral wealth but also teeming with danger. Several corporations attempt to colonise it, but they find only strange artifacts and decide to abandon the planet and their workers, mostly convicts tricked into employment.

However, it turns out there are vaults on the planet left behind by a precursor race and guarded by fierce monsters. The corporations return to pillage the loot, and you play as a Vault Hunter, someone determined to get the spoils for themselves.

In Borderlands 3, specifically, the game revolves around a cult called The Children of the Vault who are spreading among the galaxy looking for more vaults on other planets. You’re recruited by a playable character from the first game to stop this cult and prevent them from accessing the Great Vault.

The series has been around since 2009, and the most recent entry is Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, a spin-off based on Borderlands 2Borderlands 3 was a critical and commercial success, getting many positive reviews and selling over 18 million copies as of 2023.

There are plenty of other games coming to PS Plus as well as its higher-paid tiers, and you can see them all here.

In other news, Fortnite‘s new update adds a duo queue to its Reload mode.
