BRIAN MAY Hints QUEEN Will Perform At Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
QUEEN guitarist Brian May has hinted that he will perform at a star-studded concert at Buckingham Palace, to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The Platinum Party, which celebrates Britain's longest-reigning monarch's 70 years of service, will be held at the Palace on June 4 and will feature performances by everyone from "pop stars to rock royalty to opera singers," according to the BBC. The event will include 3D projections across the face of Buckingham Palace and an in-person audience of 10,000.
There will be a full live orchestra, while "stars from film, TV and the stage will also tell the story and celebrate some of the most significant cultural moments from the Queen's reign", a statement said.
May, who previously performed a guitar solo of the national anthem on top of Buckingham Palace for Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee 20 years ago in 2002, dropped a hint that he and his QUEEN bandmates will take part in the Platinum Jubilee concert Friday morning (April 15) in an interview on BBC Radio 2.
"I don't think I'm allowed to tell you this but I think something might happen," the 74-year-old musician said. "There is talk of something happening. What can I tell you? We may be there, we may actually be there. Of course, it's hard to follow standing on the roof of Buckingham Palace but you never know it might be possible."
The four-day royal extravaganza celebration will take place June 2-5 and will include the aforementioned live pop concert at Buckingham Palace, a carnival pageant on the streets of London, Jubilee lunches, and the lighting of beacons across the world.
