Fallout: London

A new mod for Fallout: London has caused a rift between American and English players.

Fallout: London is a player-made, full conversion mod for Fallout 4 that takes the post-apocalyptic survival game to London. After previously being delayed due to a new update to the base game, Fallout: London was surprise-released earlier this month. Modders have already started toying with the new version of the game.

The ‘It’s A Soccer Ball’ mod by GrumpyOldNord gets to work making Fallout: London easier for American players to understand by changing all the football references to soccer. The mod “simply gives an item the proper name,” explained GrumpyOldNord. “Are you an American exploring London for the first time and find some of the lingo a bit confusing? Have no fear! The soccer ball is now properly named so as to avoid confusion with a real football.”

As reported by Eurogamer, the mod changes the name of any footballs to soccer balls within the game, while the football kit has been renamed soccer uniform. It’s also caused a stir in the comments section. “This is the best troll mod in a long time,” said one fan, with others adding a horror tag to the mod.

“Americans always think their wording is right, while the whole world knows better. Therefore, I don’t care if you use this mod or that it exists, whatever floats your boat,” reads one comment, with another fan pointing out that the original poster cares so little, they’ve made time to tell everyone.

“You do know the term Soccer was created in the UK. Then the west adopted that term because they already used Football for a different sport. Then the UK stopped using the term Soccer and started complaining when other people kept it. If you’re going to attempt to be elitist regarding a sport at least know the proper history,” added another player.

“Reporting this mod for terrorism. Absolutely dastardly behaviour, you deserve a hundred fortnights in the stocks,” wrote a third.

Since Fallout: London released last week, developers have been working to fix a number of bugs.

In other news, a new study has revealed which iconic TV houses have been re-created the most in The Sims 4.
