Bungie has apologised for a number of issues that affected the launch of Destiny 2 expansion The Final Shape.

The Final Shape launched yesterday (June 4) with the expansion set to conclude Destiny 2’s ongoing, epic 10-year narrative.

However, issues with the stability of the servers saw players kicked out of the game, causing them to unwittingly miss key cutscenes which take place at the end of missions one, four, five, six and seven.

In a statement shared on Reddit, Bungie wrote: “If connection issues have blocked you from playing or enjoying The Final Shape today, we want to apologise. We’re hard at work trying to resolve each of these issues as quickly as possible, and many of the connection issues from this morning have already been fixed,” with a number of changes to the server configuration made in the hours following the launch of the game.

As a “temporary workaround” players can currently replay missions by accessing the Replayable Missions node in the middle of the Pale Heart map in order to view cutscenes they may have missed the first time around.

“We built The Final Shape to be an exciting, cathartic, story-driven adventure for everyone to enjoy. We’re truly sorry for connection issues and instability getting in the way of that experience, and we promise to keep working until these issues are resolved,” developers added.

Last week, Bungie had to warn players about The Final Shape spoilers after the Destiny 2 DLC was accidentally pushed live ahead of schedule. “Please be considerate of others and report leaks so players can experience the conclusion of the Light and Darkness saga themselves,” they wrote on social media.

“It’s always extremely difficult when our team’s hard work is leaked early, but we are still excited for everyone to experience the full release on June 4 together.”

Despite acting as the final chapter of Destiny 2 story, The Final Shape might not be the end of Destiny. Last month, executive creative director Luke Smith shared a cryptic message that seemed to hint at the possibility that a Destiny 3 was in the works.

In other news, Imagine Dragons vocalist Dan Reynolds has revealed that he’s delayed gigs because he’s been busy playing League Of Legends.
