IDLES and Hey Duggee

IDLES have shared their take on ‘Stick Song!’, a children’s TV hit from CBeebies show Hey Duggee.

Just days before they’re set to headline Glastonbury, the Bristolian band have revamped the song just in time for a new episode of the show called ‘The Carrot Badge’.

The episode is a homage to music festivals and the summer solstice, featuring cartoon rabbits prepping for the Carrot Solstice, and will air on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer on the June 28 – just days after IDLES will appear on the Other Stage at Worthy Farm.

The original version of ‘Stick Song!’ is a certified kids’ TV classic, currently on 17 million YouTube views. The entire Hey Duggee series has garnered over 3billion views and remains one of the most popular children’s TV series, with the new guitar version likely to win over both children and parents – you can watch the video below.

Although it seems an unlikely collaboration, this marks the second time IDLES have been on CBeebies, after lead singer Joe Talbot read Under the Love Umbrella as a CBeebies Bedtime Story, which artists like Dave GrohlDolly Parton and Harry Styles have also done previously.

At the time, the singer said: “It’s an honour to announce that I am reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story. I can NOT express how much I love reading to my kid so this was a welcome twist in an already beautiful career. All love.”

Following the release of their recent album ‘TANGK’, IDLES’ summer schedule includes various international dates, and will round off with a UK headline tour. Visit here for UK tickets and here for US tickets.
