Pharrell Williams and Daft Punk

Daft Punk are set to feature in Pharrell Williams’ new LEGO biopic Piece by Piece.

The musician and creative polymath will chronicle his life and career in the new movie directed by Morgan Neville, which is out on October 11 in the US and November 8 in the UK.

Along with narrating his own journey through the music industry, the movie – which Williams serves as a co-producer on – will also feature cameos from his famous past collaborators, from Jay Z, Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake and more.

After the official movie poster was revealed this weekend, Daft Punk could also be spotted amongst the A-listers.

The French electronic duo and Williams famously worked together on the 2013 megahit ‘Get Lucky’.

The world premiere of Piece by Piece kicked off the Telluride Film Festival this weekend.

During an interview with NME in June, Williams explained how the movie was an “amazing experience of history for me”.

He went on: “I can’t tell you how humbled I am to have this masterful storyteller really make sense of my life. It has always been all over the place and made sense to me but not to most. He was able to do it in colour, vividly – brick by brick, piece by piece.”

Oscar-winning director Neville has previously captured the legacies of Steve Martin, Mickey Mouse and more.

Asked about the process of getting Williams’ celebrity friends on-board, he shared: “They are all a part of Pharrell’s story, but they’re not acting.”

The director added: “There was not a single person who, when we asked them to participate, even hesitated”.

“[Piece By Piece] is a documentary, and a biopic, and an animated movie, and a musical – it’s all these things,” he continued. “So, everything in the film is real. It’s what somebody said, or remembered, or said somebody said.”
