NME’s latest star of The Cover, METTE, has shared a playlist exclusively to accompany the story’s launch – check it out below.

The pop artist is on this week’s (July 1) edition of The Cover, a renewal of NME’s commitment to supporting emerging talent across the globe on a weekly basis. Every week, a rising artist will feature on The Coveryou can read the profile of METTE here, written by Nick Levine and featuring photography by Rachel Billings.

Accompanying the story is an exclusive playlist METTE has compiled, reflecting her twin passions of music and dance – as well as her love for pop, R&B, dance, disco and much more. In a statement, METTE declared: “Music is everything. Dance is everything else. Move, groove and stunt your attitude. This music is meant to inspire your confident streak and power up your day. Enjoy my divas!”

Listen to the full playlist on Spotify below and on Apple Music.

METTE’s appearance on The Cover comes following her opening slot for Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour stop in London on June 21. “We’re talking about a once-in-a-lifetime artist bestowing on me an opportunity to join her at Wembley Stadium – it’s difficult to put in words what that means to me,” the Minnesota-born artist told NME.

Years ago, METTE was working as a backing dancer (and famously starred in N.E.R.D.’s music video for ‘Lemon’ featuring Rihanna) – now she’s an Ivor Novello-nominated singer, songwriter and artist. Last month, METTE released her latest single ‘Muscle’, and is readying an EP themed around metamorphosis. “The imposter syndrome is slowly but surely fading away,” she told NME. “And that means a lot, because we’re talking about a pivot that began five years ago. It’s not a long time since I was dancing.”
