Liam Gallagher has helped raise £25,000 to help dogs in Thailand, the owner of the Happy Doggo charity has shared on X (formerly Twitter).
The money raised is going towards a hospital for dogs currently living at the charity – Gallagher himself adopted a dog from them last year.
Niall Harbison, who aims to save 1,000 dogs a month through Happy Doggo, composed a thread on the social media site, announcing it as a “story that proves not all is bad in the world and which I guarantee will make you smile.”
Harbison explained that Gallagher adopted Buttons, who last year turned up at his sanctuary and was placed up for adoption. “Long story short Liam Gallagher applied. When the application came in it listed the occupation as “singer”,” he reveals. “I presumed my mates were taking the piss.
“Surprisingly it was real. Liam even knew the other dogs from online. Buttons had a beautiful forever home.” Harbison also shared footage of Buttons taking the trip from Thailand to eventually meet Gallagher for the first time.

While Gallagher was on tour for the 20th anniversary of ‘Definitely Maybe’ this year, he displayed a massive globe on stage – and dedicated the Oasis track ‘Half The World Away’ to Buttons. Following the end of the tour, he decided to auction the globe off to raise money for the organisation.
“The globe was auctioned and Co-op were kind enough to take it,” Harbison continued. “It will be a feature in the new Co-op Live venue in Manchester, where visitors can see it before all events. The fact it is a globe and Buttons came from “half the world away” is perfect.”

Co-op donated £25,000 in return for the globe, which has helped Harbison afford to build a hospital for another dog, Tina, and the hospital “will be built on the same piece of jungle where little Buttons used to sneak in on,” he said.
Harbison finished, “Never underestimate the impact dogs can have on us all. Over a year ago little Buttons walked in hoping for a better life. She’s done that and then some. Not everything is bad in the world. Love always wins.”
And while Gallagher has been on tour this year, including four dates at Co-op Live, he’s enjoying life with Buttons so much that he said he “doesn’t want to go on tour” anymore. He made the comments in March, saying, “I don’t want to go on tour no more. I want to stay home now.”
He explained that he wouldn’t be bringing Buttons on tour with him, as “I don’t know if she would like it.”
In the meantime, however, the younger Gallagher brother will be headlining Reading & Leeds this weekend, playing Leeds on Friday (August 23) and Reading on Sunday (August 25). You can check out the full stage times here and find tickets here.
