Dry Cleaning have announced a new double A-side single consisting of two brand new tracks, ‘Bug Eggs’ and ‘Tony Speaks!’
“‘Bug Eggs’ is about the confidence that comes with age, fragility and sexual desire,” said vocalist Florence Shaw of the release, which you can hear below.
“The lyrics to ‘Tony Speaks!’ were written days after the Conservative party won the December 2019 UK election. I was thinking about climate change, environmental catastrophes and political campaigning.”
‘Bug Eggs / Tony Speaks!’ follows the band’s debut album ‘New Long Leg’, released on 4AD in April. They were recorded during the album sessions with John Parrish at Rockfield Studios last summer.
In a four-star review of ‘New Long Leg’, NMEÂ said that “While early EPs âSweet Princessâ and âBoundary Road Snacks and Drinksâ skipped along on a steady diet of buoyant percussion and jangly guitar lines from the post-punk handbook, âNew Long Legâ isnât afraid to slow things down, and some of its most affecting moments come from this change of pace.”
The album was subsequently named in NME‘s lists of both the best LPs of 2021 so far, and the best debut albums and EPs of the last six months.
The band will be on the road throughout 2021 and 2022. Prior to the albumâs release the band announced 2022 dates for the UK and Ireland.
In May, they then revealed that the tour has expanded to include additional shows in the US and Europe.
