Elon Musk has shared the genre of podcasts he listens to as heâs falling asleep, despite their content being some of his biggest worries.
The Tesla founder shared earlier this week: âI listen to podcasts about the fall of civilisations to fall asleepâ.
However, when asked at the Milken Global Conference in Los Angeles what keeps him up at night, Musk responded: âAnything thatâs a civilizational risk.â
He elaborated: âAnything that undermines the foundations of democracy in America or elsewhereâ as well as âanything thatâs leading us away from a merit-based system.â
According to The Independent, Musk has theorised that the collapse of civilisation could eventually come down to declining birth rates, artificial intelligence of a âsingle world governmentâ.
Itâs not the first time Musk has shared that he engages with this genre of podcast.
Hi Elon, at present the platform is too compromised for me to consider it. It's become a safe haven for hate speech, and meanwhile crypto scammers and bots are paying to be boosted to the top of replies. Everything that once made Twitter special seems to be leaching away.

In June last year, after he bought Twitter (now X), he was rejected by the makers of the Fall Of Civilizations podcast, after asking them to upload their episodes directly to the site: âPlease upload your podcasts to this platform tooâ.
The showâs official account responded to Muskâs plea: âHi Elon, at present the platform is too compromised for me to consider it.â
They continued: âItâs become a safe haven for hate speech, and meanwhile crypto scammers and bots are paying to be boosted to the top of replies. Everything that once made Twitter special seems to be leaching away.â
Elsewhere, Musk has recently suggested that X will charge users a âsmall feeâ to post on the platform, in an attempt to deter bots.
