Figures in the entertainment world ā€“ such as 50 Cent, M.I.A., Kid Rock, and Freddie Gibbs, among others ā€“ have reacted to a shooting at a Donald Trump political rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday (July 13).

A man ā€“ who has been identified by the FBI as Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania ā€“ is suspected of firing rifle shots at the former president, with one bullet appearing to strike his ear. The FBI have confirmed they are treating the incident as an assassination attempt.

A spokesperson for the Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, said that the president was ā€œsafeā€, while one spectator at the rally was killed and two others were critically wounded. Crooks was fatally shot by Secret Service agents.

In a statement, Trump said he was ā€œfineā€ after a bullet hit him in ā€œthe upper part of [his] right earā€. He thanked Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers for their ā€œrapid responseā€.

ā€œMost importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the rally who was killed and also to the family of [those] badly injured,ā€ he added. ā€œIt is incredible that such an act can take place in our country.ā€

Several high profile figures in the entertainment world have shared their reactions to the news on social media.

A subsequent tweet saw him post an edited version of the cover of his 2003 debut album ā€˜Get Rich Or Die Tryinā€™, with Trumpā€™s face superimposed on his. ā€œTrump gets shot and now Iā€™m trending,ā€ he wrote.
