Xbox Games Showcase 2024 title card.

Microsoft hosted a massive Xbox Games Showcase yesterday (June 9) to lay out its stall for the months and years to come.

30 different games were featured in the two-hour presentation, including reveals, new trailers and launch dates. Here’s everything that happened at the Xbox Games Showcase.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6

Activision revealed the first gameplay video for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6. The game will feature an all new campaign set during the first Gulf War era, 2 new 6v6 maps & 4 new strike maps at launch and the return of round-based Zombies

Indiana Jones And The Great Circle

Bethesda gave fans another glimpse at Indiana Jones And The Great Circle with a new “pivotal cinematic” that sees Indy and hew sidekick Gina making a startling discovery in the Himalayas. From there, things quickly take a turn for the chaotic. There’s still no release date though.

Gears Of War: E-Day

After plenty of speculation, Microsoft revealed that Gears Of War 6 is actually a prequel, set 14 years before the events of the first Gears Of War game. Gears Of War: E-Day will “tell the story of the first Locust emergence on Sera” and serve as an origin story for Marcus Fenix.

Doom: The Dark Ages

id Software revealed a new Doom game. The Dark Ages will serve as a prequel to Doom‘s 2016 reboot and Doom Eternal. It will follow Doom Slayer’s origins in the Dark Ages as he becomes the demon-slaying hero we’ve all come to know and love.

Avowed

The first trailer for Avowed was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, while a follow-up blog from Obsidian Entertainment seemingly confirmed a November release date – however that bit of news has since been removed from the post.

Diablo 4: Vessel Of Hatred

A new expansion for Diablo 4 is set to be released in October. “Deep in the jungles of Nahantu, a conflicted Neyrelle is tormented by the malicious wills of her travelling companion Mephisto. Can you navigate the terrors that lay in wait to save her soul, or will it already be too late? Harness the powers of an all-new class to survive the deadly wilds and fight back the terrible power from within,” reads the description of the Vessel Of Hatred expansion.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 received a shiny new trailer and a release date, with the flight sim set to take off November 19.

World Of Warcraft: The War Within

Blizzard confirmed that World Of Warcraft:The War Within will be released August 26. The new expansion will be  the first in a three-part arc known as the Worldsoul Saga.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

After confirming a name change last week, Dragon Age: The Veilguard shared a first-look trailer. “Rally the Veilguard and defy the gods in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, an immersive single player RPG where you become the leader others believe in.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows

A new gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows was shared, after release details were confirmed earlier this year.

Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl

Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl also received a new trailer, this one focused on both the open-world nature of the game and how deadly everything is.

Age Of Mythology: Retold

Due for release later this year, Age of Mythology: Retold goes “beyond history to a mythical age where gods, monsters, and humans collide.”

From the creators of Age Of Empires, Age Of Mythology will combine the “best elements of the beloved Age of Mythology with modern real-time strategy design and visuals” to create an “epic and innovative experience for old and new players alike.”

Fable

A new trailer for Fable revealed a 2025 release window, and a new character voiced by Peep Show star Matt King.

Mixtape

Mixtape is a coming-of-age game from Annapurna Interactive. “On their last night of high school, three friends embark on one more adventure together. Play through a mixtape of memories, set to the soundtrack of a generation,” reads the description. Music from the likes of Devo, Roxy Music, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lush, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Joy Division has also confirmed.

Perfect Dark reboot

The long-awaited reboot of Perfect Dark has received a new gameplay trailer.

“Earth has been struck by a series of disasters, bringing ecosystems around the world to the verge of collapse. In this first look at gameplay, follow agent Joanna Dark as she hunts down the world’s most wanted criminal, Daniel Carrington, to uncover the mysteries that threaten the lives of millions,” reads the description.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Sandfall Interactive has revealed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a ground-breaking turn-based RPG with unique real-time mechanics. “Lead the members of Expedition 33 on their quest to destroy the Paintress so that she can never paint death again. Explore a world of wonders inspired by Belle Époque France and battle unique enemies.” There’s no release window, but there is a trailer.

South Of Midnight

Action adventure game South Of Midnight also got a gameplay trailer and a release window of 2025.

Starfield: Shattered Space

Fans also got a proper look at Shattered Space, the long-awaited expansion for Starfield, which is due out later this year.

State Of Decay 3

News on State Of Decay 3 has been shared, four years after the game was first announced. State Of Decay 3 is “an open-world survival game set years after a zombie apocalypse nearly wiped out humankind. An evolving zombie threat is taking over the landscape and you need to carve out a life for your community of survivalist homesteaders,” continued the description.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a soulslike action-RPG “set in the land of Shu during the dark and tumultuous late Ming Dynasty, plagued with warring factions and a mysterious illness spawning monstrous creatures.” It’s been created by Leenzee and is due for release next year.

The Elder Scrolls: Gold Road

To celebrate the ten-year anniversary of The Elder Scrolls Online, Microsoft has shared a new trailer to promote the upcoming Gold Road expansion, and confirmed a free subscription to ESO Plus is available until June 19.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater

The remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 was confirmed last year, and now a new trailer has been shared.

Fallout 76: Skyline Valley

Hot on the heels of the successful Amazon Prime Video adaptation, Fallout 76 is getting a new expansion that allows players to finally play as a Ghoul. Skyline Valley launches June 12 and allows players to explore a brand-new region of Appalachia.

“Investigate the cause of the electric storm circling overhead and unveil the mystery around Vault 63 and its dwellers, including a shocking new Ghoul type – The Lost.”

Life Is Strange: Double Exposure

Deck Nine has confirmed a new entry in the Life Is Strange series, with Double Exposure due for release later this year.

Sea Of Thieves

The upcoming Season 13 of Sea Of Thieves has been revealed via a new trailer that invites players to become the villain.

Atomfall

A British take on Fallout has been revealed by Sniper Elite studio Rebellion. Inspired by a real-world nuclear disaster that occurred in northern England in 1957, Atomfall is a single-player survival action game.

Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn

An official trailer for Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn has been shared. The action role-playing video game from A44 Game is also set to take part in the upcoming Steam Next Fest ahead of a full launch on July 18.

Winter Burrow

Pine Creek Games shared their new game as part of the Xbox Games Showcase. “Winter Burrow is a cozy woodland survival game about a mouse returning home to restore their childhood burrow. Explore, gather resources, craft, knit warm sweaters, bake pies and meet the locals.”

FragPunk

Bad Guitar Studio’s FragPunk got its world premiere during the Xbox Games Showcase. According to developers, FragPunk is a new fast paced 5v5 hero based first person shooter featuring powerup cards that “bend the rules of combat.”

Mecha BREAK

Mecha BREAK, the multiplayer mech combat game from Amazing Season is due for release in 2025 with a new trailer showcasing a diverse, customisable range of mechs and the colossal war machines they’ll do battle with.

In other news, Shemue fans have rented a billboard in New York’s Times Square to pressure Sega into creating a fourth Shenmue game.
