Former Guns N’ Roses manager Vicky Hamilton has confirmed that she is working on a new series about the ‘80s sunset strip.
The manager famously worked with an array of some of the biggest names in rock throughout the ‘80s, including Mötley Crüe, Poison, Styrper and Faster Pussycat.
She was also behind the managing of Guns N’ Roses during the earlier years of their career – booking them shows in the time before they released their huge ‘Appetite For Destruction’ album and helping them seal a milestone deal at Geffen Records.
In the time since, she has gone on to share a series of releases surrounding the rock icons, including the 2016 autobiography Appetite for Dysfunction: A Cautionary Tale, and a 1993 painting of frontman Axl Rose that she created nearing the end of her time working with the band.
Now, during a new interview with Loudwire, Hamilton has revealed that she has another project on the way: a television series centred around the ‘80s sunset strip.
Speaking about how both the new project and the 2016 autobiography relate to the 1993 artwork, titled Axl’s Glow, she told the outlet: “It was a very sad time. I was trying to figure out what had actually happened and why it went down like that.”
“I think once I started writing the book, I kind of got a sense of why that happened, so that I would write this book,” she continued. “And this is the first time I’m really saying this out loud — I’ve done a deal with a production company, and it’s going to get made into a TV series.”
While Hamilton didn’t divulge much about the details surrounding the new series, she did reveal that it is still very much in its early stages and an “insanely creative writer that has written many hit TV shows” is set to collaborate on the project.
“I kind of see it like a Daisy Jones & the Six, but like an ’80s version of that,” she added, confirming that the series will be about Los Angeles during this time rather than specifically about Guns N’ Roses. “I don’t know if legally they’ll be able to work out to use the real band names, but who knows?”
Later in the interview, she also said that while the team aren’t quite at the stage of casting for the series, she personally would like Elle Fanning and Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard to take part.
In other Guns N’ Roses news, last month guitarist Slash revealed that he does not have any recollections of his early gigs due to his alcohol consumption.
A month earlier, he added that while this year saw him turn his focus to his latest solo release – blues covers album ‘Orgy Of The Damned’ – he sees 2025 being all about Guns N’ Roses.
