The first trailer for a French-Canadian remake of Brooklyn Nine-Nine has dropped – see the first glimpse of Escouade 99 below.
Quebec-based company Quebecor Content have purchased the rights to the hit American comedy, and appear to have made a near-identical remake, starring Mickaël Gouin, Bianca Gervais, Mylène Mackay, Widemir Normil and Guy Jodoin.
The first trailer for Escouade 99, which promises to feature the familiar-sounding plot that follows “a group of endearing and out of the ordinary detectives who fight crime at Escouade 99 in Quebec City,” has dropped online – watch it below.

The trailer has attracted significant attention from Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans and cast members alike.
Melissa Fumero, who plays Amy Santiago in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, tweeted: “OMG OMG OMG. This is like peeking through another dimension.”

Fans have also been sharing their thoughts, with one likening the new remake to “a porn parody version of Brooklyn 99.”

One tweeter referenced the recent conversation about Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s humorous portrayal of police officers in light of the wave of global Black Lives Matter protests and conversations about police brutality.

The sitcom has drawn attention recently following the death of George Floyd in the US and a surge of anti-racism and anti-police brutality protests around the world.
“We’ve had a lot of sombre talks about it and deep conversations,” cast member Terry Crews said.
“And we hope through this, we’re going to make something that will be truly groundbreaking this year. We have an opportunity, and we plan to use it in the best way possible.”
The cast and showrunner of Brooklyn Nine-Nine also made a $100K donation to the National Bail Fund Network, following a prompt from another actor conscious of the impact of portraying police officers in a comedic light.
