Fans have shared their thoughts on Kehlani posing for a photo with their “twin” Chris Brown, despite his prior comments on the singer.

Brown recently uploaded a selfie of him and the Californian together to his Instagram Stories. The image’s caption was short, only seeing the Virginia star write “Twin” along with a heart emoji.

Brown and Kehlani’s reunion confused the latter’s supporters after an X/Twitter exchange the two had back in 2016.

At the time, Kehlani shared a photo of them in the hospital on their Instagram as well as a message about how they attempted to commit suicide.

Many believed the incident was related to their public break-up with NBA player Kyrie Irving. While the two were thought to be together, PartyNextDoor posted a photo of him and Kehlani – alluding that the latter cheated on Irving with him. Kehlani was bullied online after PND unveiled the photo.

The ‘Did I’ star denied cheating on Irving with the OVO signee at the time, writing: “No, I’m not a CHEATER [or] a THOT. I’m a BELIEVER IN FOLLOWING YOUR HEART and not LYING TO YOURSELF. Translation – I was with PND. We broke up. I got with Kyrie. We realized it wasn’t working out. Got back with PND.”

Brown replied to the news on his social media, saying: “There is no attempting suicide. Stop flexing for the gram. Doing shit for sympathy so those comments under your pics don’t look so bad!”

He continued: “I’ll be the biggest piece of [poop emoji]. But ima ride for my homies regardless. KYRIE is probably one of the only good guys left. IDGAF!”

Once Brown sent those tweets, he was scolded online and criticised for his insensitivity to Kehlani’s situation. Eight years later, many of the latter’s fans feel the same way.

In a quote tweet, one fan reposted Brown’s tweets and asked: “Mind you Kehlani tried to end her life and this what he had to say this bitch head on straight??”

Another referred to how they removed Tory Lanez from their 2020 collaboration ‘Can I’ after the July 2020 incident where he was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, “but now they all cozied up to Cocaine Fisticuffs Brown?”.

“Kehlani [was] going, ‘Use your platform! Speak against injustice!’ and then proceed[ed] to buddy-buddy up with one of the most famous domestic terrorists of all time…,” said another X/Twitter user.

Some fans defended Kehlani and Brown, however. One wrote: “Kehlani and Chris Brown been good for a while, [and] y’all just be shocked because y’all think social media reflects real life.”

Another said the 29-year-old was “another person who’s moved on, yet, y’all are still mad on their behalf”.

This controversy comes two months after Kehlani dropped her highly-anticipated fourth studio album ‘Crash’ back in June. The record features guest verses from Jill Scott, Omah Lay and Young Miko.

She will also embark on her own headline North American tour next month as the first leg of her ‘Crash World Tour’. UK R&B girl group FLO and rising rapper Anycia will be her support acts.

The tour will start on September 4 in Minneapolis, Mississippi before hitting huge cities like Toronto, Brooklyn, Miami, Dallas, San Diego and more. The run is set to end this November in her home town of San Francisco. You can find any available tickets here.
