The team behind Final Fantasy 14’s Dawntrail expansion have apologised for a number of issues impacting its early access launch.
Dawntrail launched on Friday (June 28) for people who had pre-ordered the game, but quickly players found a number of issues with the updated Final Fantasy 14. A current list of problems on the subreddit includes players not being able to return to their homeworld following the update, Xbox players having issues with the entire game becoming unresponsive, PlayStation players being booted at midnight as well as a number of display and animation issues across all versions of the game.
“Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who has been playing Dawntrail since the start of early access,” wrote director Naoki Yoshida in a blog entry. “However, I would like to offer my sincere apologies regarding the issues that we have identified,” he continued, giving fans an update on how they would be sorted.
“The aforementioned issues are being classified as a high priority,” he continued. “They are under investigation on our development server and are being addressed in a systematic manner. We are considering the release of a hotfix, which is likely to occur sometime this week, which would be accompanied by a brief maintenance period.”
Last month, Square Enix promised fans Dawntrail would have a smooth launch, after a number of issues affected the release of the Endwalker expansion at the end of 2021.
“There’s almost no chance that we would face a situation where we cannot accommodate the number of players required,” Yoshida explained, with a number of new servers ready to go online with a press of a button. ”I think we should be good in terms of preparation,” he added.
When pre-orders for the Danwtrail expansion went live earlier this year, demand crashed a number of global Square Enix storefronts.
Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail is due for full release tomorrow (July 2) for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
In other news, George R.R. Martin has given fans an update on a potential adaptation of Elden Ring.
