The teaser, which was released by Aniplex US on April 16, begins by recapping the latest events of the anime: the tragic death of Flame Hashira Rengoku Kyojuro, which concluded the global blockbuster movie Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, and the intense battle between protagonist Tanjiro Kamado and the strongest demons he’s faced so far, the Upper Rank 6 duo of Gyutaro and Daki – the climactic confrontation of Demon Slayer season 2’s Entertainment District arc.
The trailer then reveals that the series will continue to follow the manga’s lead by starting the Swordsmith Village arc. It also briefly reintroduces viewers to Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, who have not been seen since the anime’s first season.

The Swordsmith Village arc begins with Tanjiro, his ever-evolving demon sister Nezuko and their comrades Agatsuma Zenitsu and Hashibira Inosuke travelling to the Swordsmith Village to repair Tanjiro’s badly damaged sword. No release date for Demon Slayer season 3 has been confirmed.
‘Demon Slayer’ has been a runaway success worldwide. In December 2020, Mugen Train became Japan’s highest-grossing movie of all time, selling over 27 million tickets for a cumulative total of 37.1billion yen (about US$351.6 million). It also became the second anime film after Pokemon: The First Movie ever to hit No. 1 at the US box office.
The movie was recut as a seven-episode series that aired in late 2021 before season 2’s Entertainment District Arc, with NME reviewing the Mugen Train recut as “a serialised, fan-pandering retool of the anime blockbuster”.
Demon Slayer recently launched a video game titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles. The game is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and includes a versus mode with playable villains that allows fans to see the fight through their eyes for the first time.
