Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand performs on stage

Franz Ferdinand have announced details of some live shows in Scotland – marking their first tour dates in over a year. Find ticket details below.

The band first shared an update with fans on Saturday (July 13), when they uploaded a clip to their social media channels confirming that an official announcement about new live shows was on the way.

“We’re very excited to announce that we’ve got a few live shows coming up in Scotland,” they wrote in the caption, also adding that the full announcement would arrive on Monday (July 15).

In the clip, Alex Kapranos is seen speaking directly to the camera. “Hi, it’s Alex, speaking very quietly because I’m in an airport and don’t want to look too much like an influencer or some other kind of fanny,” he began. “But I’m very excited because we can tell you all now that we’re going to be starting our live shows with a few gigs around Scotland, in some places we’ve never been before. So keep your eyes open.”

Now, the band have confirmed that they have three upcoming shows in the country, all of which will be taking place later this year.

The dates kick off on September 26 with an opening night at the Spa Pavilion in Strathpeffer, and continue the following night with a slot at the Albert Halls in Stirling.

From there, they wrap up with a final show at The Venue in Dumfries on September 28. Tickets to all three shows go on sale this Friday (July 19) at 9am local time and will be available here. Local pre-sale options will go live on Thursday (18) at the same time and will be offered to those who have signed up to the band’s mailing list. Find a full list of tour dates below.

Franz Ferdinand’s upcoming live shows are:

SEPTEMBER 2024
26 – Spa Pavilion, Strathpeffer
27 – Albert Halls, Stirling
28 – The Venue, Dumfries

The announcement of the Scotland shows comes just months after Kapranos celebrated the 20th anniversary of Franz Ferdinand’s debut album today earlier this year.

The band’s self-titled debut album arrived on February 9 2004 – reaching Number Three on the charts, containing the hit singles ‘Take Me Out’, ‘Michael’, ‘The Dark Of The Matinee’ and ‘This Fire’, and going on to win the Mercury Music Prize and become known as an indie classic.

To celebrate two decades of their debut, the band also re-released the album on coloured vinyl. Their last studio album was 2018’s acclaimed ‘Always Ascending‘.
