Elden Ring Godrick

George R.R. Martin has given fans an update on a potential adaptation of Elden Ring.

Since Elden Ring launched in February 2022, fans have been asking about a potential adaptation – following the success of The Last Of Us, Fallout and League Of Legends spin-off Arcane.

So far, creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has said there’s an “active” interest in an adaptation of Elden Ring, but only if he and the rest of FromSoftware weren’t too heavily involved. “I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation of Elden Ring, a movie for example. But I don’t think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that’s where a very strong partner would come into play,” he told The Guardian.

However, taking to his personal blog, George R.R. Martin has added fire to the rumours, with an over the top denial.

“Oh, and about those rumours you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on ELDEN RING… I have nothing to say,” we wrote. “Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum.  What rumour?”

The Game Of Thrones author originally assisted with “a bit of worldbuilding” for Elden Ring, after being contacted by FromSoftware, helping to create “the backstory and history” for the title despite not being a huge fan of video games. The “offer was just too exciting to refuse,” he explained. However, he had no additional involvement with recently released expansion Shadow Of The Erdtree.

Shadow Of The Erdtree is the first and only expansion for Elden Ring, and launched last month. However, several key members of the development team have suggested that it’s not the end of the franchise.

“We don’t want to say this is the end of the Elden Ring saga for now. I think we said a similar thing at the end of Dark Souls 3. We didn’t want to flatten those possibilities or put a pin in them just at that time. And it’s a similar story with Elden Ring. We don’t want to discourage the possibilities for that. There might be more ideas in the future”, Miyazaki said.

“We don’t have any current plans to make a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don’t want to snuff out that possibility. We think that there could well be something in the future,” Miyazaki concluded.

In other news, a number of rumours have suggested that a classic Call Of Duty: Warzone map is set to make a return next year.
