Coldplay have debuted a new song with Little Simz tonight at Glastonbury 2024.
The band, who tonight (June 29) played their record-breaking fifth headline slot at the Pyramid Stage, along with Fridayās headliner Dua Lipa, have become one of the first acts to have their Glastonbury sets streamed globally.
They had plenty of surprises in store to mark the occasion, and brought out Little Simz midway through their set as the VT showed clips of Burna Boy while they debuted the new track.
Although the title of the song is as yet unknown, it’s rumoured to be titled ‘Supernova’, and features the line: “And so we pray” throughout its chorus.

Before the rapper stepped out on stage, the band had cycled through huge hits like ‘Yellow’ and a live-orchestra backed version of ‘The Scientist’, as well as bringing out Victoria Canal for ‘Paradise’.
The new track is thought to be from the upcoming ‘Moon Music’ album, which they teased back in January was nearly finished, while describing it as aĀ āsecond Music Of The Spheres volume.ā
Frontman Martin discussed the pressures of releasing new music with NME in 2021, when he noted how āintenseā it was be to keep releasing fresh music.
āWeāre going to make 12 albums. Because itās a lot to pour everything into making them. I love it and itās amazing, but itās very intense too,ā he said. āI feel like because I know that challenge is finite, making this music doesnāt feel difficult, it feels like, āThis is what weāre supposed to be doingā.ā
He added: āI donāt think thatās what weāll do. I know thatās what weāll do in terms of studio albums.ā
Earlier on in the weekend, Chris Martin had apparently been spotted handing out LED wristbands for their headline slot tonight.Ā The wristbands, a staple of Coldplay’s sets, were glowing in time with the beat throughout the night.
Still set to come this weekend are performances fromĀ SZA, Shania Twain, Janelle Monae, The National, Two Door Cinema Club, Avril Lavigne, Justice, Nia Archives, James Blake, Alvvays, Romy and more.
Camila Cabelloās chaotic set scored a three-star rating, whileĀ Dua Lipaās Friday headlining performance earned her four-stars.Ā IDLESĀ andĀ Fontaines D.C nabbed perfect five-star ratingsĀ as did the festivalāsĀ first K-pop performers SEVENTEEN.
