Gordon Ramsay

Gordon Ramsay has revealed that he was recently involved in a bicycle accident, admitting he is “lucky to be alive”.

The chef opened up about the incident over the weekend on Instagram as he showed the gruesome torso bruise he sustained while riding his bike in the US.

“I’d like to share a very important message with you all. You know how much I love cycling and triathlons and Iron Man etc. The week unfortunately I had a really bad accident,” he began. “It really shook me. Honestly, I’m lucky to be here.

“Now, from those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses and the hospital that looked after me this week, they were amazing.”

Ramsay then urged his followers to “wear a helmet”, adding: “I don’t care how short the journey is. I don’t care the fact that these helmets cost money. But they’re crucial. Even with the kids, a short journey, they’ve gotta wear a helmet.

“Now, I’m lucky to be standing here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m sort of getting through it. But, I cannot tell you the importance of wearing a helmet,” he continued, before wishing a happy Father’s Day.

The chef echoed the message in his comments, writing: “I’m doing ok and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries but I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato.

“I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me and checked me out, but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and be safe Gx.”

Meanwhile, last year Ramsay shared his reaction to NCT member Mark referencing him in song ‘Golden Hour’, which was inspired by the chef’s reaction to a post by an NCT fan in 2018.
