Grimes and CreateSafe have partnered up with Slip.streamĀ to make 200+ GrimesAI songs available for content creators to use on any platform
Earlier this year, the singer unveiled Elf.Tech, her own AI voice-mimicking software that will allow users to record vocals in Grimesā voice. The software is powered by CreateSafeās Triniti API, and enables artists to distribute their creations to DSPs like Spotify, Apple, Tidal, and others. Over 1000 songs have been created since its launch.
Now, her partnership with Slip.stream ā the largest royalty-free music resource ā content creators and fans will be able to use GrimesAI songsĀ in their video content and live streams on any platform.
Speaking about the partnership in a press release, CreateSafe Co-Founder and CEO, Daouda Leonard, said: “Central to the mission of Grimes and CreateSafe is empowering artists with the means to not only conceive and collaborate on their creations but also to share them with a global audience.”
He continued: “Through our partnership with Slip.stream, creators will now have the unique opportunity to enhance their videos with GrimesAI music, opening up new horizons for artistic expression. Simultaneously, musicians will gain access to the burgeoning creator economy at an unprecedented scale via Slip.Stream.”
Jesse Korwin, CMO & Co-Founder at Slip.stream added: āWeāre beyond excited to be collaborating with a groundbreaking visionary like Grimes. At Slip.stream, our mission is to change the music industry by breaking down barriers and enabling creators and musicians to elevate their creativity by bringing them together. This partnership is a big step forward in that endeavour.ā
The use of AI in creating music continues to split artists and fans, along with Grimes, Ā Liam Gallagher seems to be in favour of the prospect. This comes as the formerĀ gave permission for fans to use her voice in their own musicĀ with the help of AI, provided they share the royalties with her, and the latterĀ praised an AI version of a ālostā Oasis album as āmegaā.
One of the most prolific artists to speak out against the method isĀ Nick Cave, who previouslyĀ described it as a āgrotesque mockery of what it is to be humanāĀ andĀ told platforms such as ChatGPT to āfuck off and leave songwriting aloneā.
Others who have criticised it includeĀ Sting, who said AI ādoesnāt impressā him and thatĀ songwriters will have to defend āour human capital against AIā, as well asĀ StereophonicsĀ frontmanĀ Kelly Jones,Ā Ed SheeranĀ andĀ Guns Nā Roses bassist Duff McKagan.
In other artificial intelligence news, last month theĀ Council of Music Makers (CMM) published five fundamental rulesĀ that they want companies to embrace when it comes to developing music AI technologies.
These included respecting the personal data rights of music-makers, sharing the financial rewards of AI music fairly, and clearly labelling AI-generated works.
