Seal has shared a new alternate version of his hit song ‘Kiss From A Rose’ from the new 30th anniversary reissue of ‘Seal’.
‘Kiss From A Rose’ was originally released in 1994 and then re-released the following year as part of the ‘Batman Forever film soundtrack’, helping it top the charts in the United States and Australia.
The track earned the Number One spot on the UK Charts as well as on the Billboard US Mainstream Top 40, US Adult Top 40, US Adult Contemporary and the Hot 100. It also reached the Top 10 in various countries, including Canada, France, Iceland and Norway. It also won three Grammys in 1996 for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
In honor of Seal’s second eponymous album’s 30th anniversary, Rhino will release a Deluxe Edition that includes a newly remastered version of the original, expanded with previously unreleased recordings.
‘Seal topped the UK album chart and peaked at Number 15 in the US, where it was certified 4x platinum.
Set for release on June 14, ‘Seal (Deluxe Edition)’ will be available in various formats including a 2-LP vinyl in a standard black pressing and a “Milky White” HMV exclusive pressing as part of the record shop’s Vinyl Week.
A 2-CD/Blu-ray version will also be available and will feature exclusive Dolby Atmos and PCM 24/96 High Resolution Stereo mixes of the album.
The reissue features 10 previously unreleased recordings as well as alternate versions of ‘Newborn Friend’ and ‘Don’t Cry’ and a stripped back version of ‘Dreaming In Metaphors’ which sees Seal alone at the piano.
It will also feature Seal’s B-side ‘Blues In E’, a cover of Steve Miller Band’s ‘Fly Like An Eagle’ from the Space Jam soundtrack and a version of ‘Manic Depression’ that Seal recorded with Jeff Beck for ‘Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix’.
