FromSoftware has released a new update for Elden Ring, which has reworked an annoying pop-up and nerfed a number of weapons.
The new 1.13 patch was released yesterday (July 30) and is the second update for Elden Ring since the launch of the Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion.
The update brings a number of quality of life updates to the game, with fans stoked about a change to one annoying in-game pop-up.
For the past two years, whenever players are taking on boss fights while riding a Torrent, the game has double checked they actually want to revive their trusty steed, leading to many getting slain in the process. However, FromSoftware have now “changed the default selection of the OK / CANCEL prompt that shows up when using the “Spectral Steed Whistle” while the spectral steed is dead. The default selection position is now OK.”
Other quality of life updates include repositioning a number of NPC summoning signs, while a number of bugs have also been fixed. The patch notes, which are available to see here, also list a number of buffs and nerfs for a variety of skills, spells and weapons. The Ashes Of War feature has also been adjusted, resulting in a number of items no longer staggering as easily.

However, Elden Ring still hasn’t fixed the credits after a number of localisation staff were removed in “error” as part of the last patch, with a fix coming in the next update. FromSoftware is also still blaming performance issues on third party software, despite backlash earlier this month.
“Further updates will be distributed in the future for you to continue to enjoy Elden Ring more comfortably,” added FromSoftware.
Earlier this month, George R.R. Martin teased a potential adaptation of Elden Ring. “Oh, and about those rumours you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on Elden Ring… I have nothing to say,” he wrote in an over-the-top denial on his blog. “Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumour?”
