Ice Spice recently praised Taylor Swift for her ability to navigate fame and the music industry.
The Bronx drill rapper appeared as the latest cover star for Rolling Stone magazine and in her interview, she opened up about working with the âBejeweledâ singer and how her guest verse on the remix of Swiftâs track âKarmaâ came to fruition.
Swift previously championed Ice Spice â real name Isis Gaston â telling Variety: âI relate to Ice in many ways, but I think her dedication and focus is what blew me away from the very start.â
She continued: âSheâs extremely professional without being cold. Playful and fun without ever taking her eye off the prize. She knows what is and isnât âherâ and sets those boundaries with grace.
âShe studies the industry and other artistsâ careers but is very clear about charting her own definitive, original path. Itâs her ability to carefully find that balance that impresses the hell out of me.â
While speaking to Rolling Stone, the âIn Ha Moodâ rapper described the âRedâ singer as her âclosest celebrity friendâ and revealed that she cried âhystericallyâ when after learning that Swift wanted to work with her.
In a three star review of her latest album ‘Y2K’ released last week, NME said: “…The starâs debut album shows plenty of promise but some filler, too. Itâs not a masterpiece that will silence the haters, but itâs not likely to slam the brakes on her rapid rise either. The lightning speed with which Ice Spice has been launched into the glare of the public eye makes it easy to forget that sheâs still in the early years of her career. Thereâs room and time for her to grow yet.”
Meanwhile, Ice Spice is currently on a North American headline tour. Find any remaining tickets here.
